Remote plant monitoring system REMGARD

local automation and remote maintenance with the PLC

REMGARD offers remote maintenance and control for your plants 24 hours/day.
Our software system allows your PLC to

  • communicate via modem
  • send out alarms
  • log status and process values
  • process switch functions and set values coming from the REMGARD-service center
  • and keep your main REMGARD data server up-todate

With the program modules included your PLC is a full remote control system. There are no extra costs for gateways or other remote control devices and there are, at the same time, all PLC data points at your disposal for remote diagnosis without additional costs.

REMGARD communicates via the programming interface of the PLC. As user you have got full access to your PLC program and can offer your clients every support for optimisation of his process.

Upon request, REMGARD can be coupled with our process visualization system VISAM, allowing an optimal overview of your plant through graphically animated online-operating surfaces.

REMGARD structures your on-call duty service and automatically stores important data from your plant.

The REMGARD-PC receives calls via modem released by the control system, analyses them and files them in an ACCESS data base and transfers messages automatically to projected recipients via SMS, email, Voice, Fax etc.

Data logged in the PLC of the system is recalled independently and archived on the hard disk of the PC as clearly structured messages and log-charts for future analysis.

Upon request, automatically generated protocol messages give reliable information about the status of all PLC data points.

The software for the master control station: enter project data – simple, logical, efficient

The first step is the project design
The modern user platform offers all advantages of the WINDOWS® operating systems; alternatively, this part can also be taken over by us.

How to proceed
The data base structure enables clientele processing and allows fast administration of all connected customers of your company.
Plants, i.e. the various PLC’s which can be accessed, are allocated to the relevant customer.
The various data points of the PLC’s can be divided into different areas.
The relevant data points are allocated in the different parts of the plant.
Error messages can be transmitted via all messaging systems, fax, voice und e-mail.
REMGARD automatically chooses the message recipient by means of the defined shift schedule.
A choice of parameterization and copy-functions assist with your work.

What has to be done on the PLC-side:
Depending on the type of PLC in use we deliver program modules for integration into your project. And immediately your PLC can log data, read operating and fault messages and communicate with the REMGARD-central control unit via modem.

With a few commands your chosen data points are transmitted cyclically into the prepared PLC data structure. Finally a name must be chosen for the slave unit-PLC as identification in the REMGARD system, the log and protocol cycle must be determined and the telephone number of the central REMGARD control must be entered.

Various controls can be combined via a bus system (preferably MPI or PROFIBUS), or a separate device, especially suitable for remote monitoring and data logging can be added to your plant control system.

Please see our offer of ready-to-use REMGARD slave unit for Saia Step®7 compatible PLC’s.

Analyse data and control service calls

And now everything functions automatically

  • All incoming calls are filed in a spreadsheet. No information can be lost, because at the moment of each message all projected data is copied into a telegram and transmitted.
  • This allows you to analyse the entire plant status at the exact point of the malfunction. This function is called ‘Snapshot’.
  • In the case of a malfunction the system automatically recognises which of your units has triggered the alarm. If a message chain has been projected for this malfunction, a report is put together from the previously entered texts, the recipient is identified from the shift schedule and the message is sent via the chosen service.
  • With each call, also the current log data is read out and stored in the data base for future analysis, put together as daily protocols.

No information is lost: REMGARD takes care of it

  • Everything is designed for automatic operation. Log data protocols every step of the system and helps solve communication problems – 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • An elaborate task management ensures smooth processing of all telephone calls.
  • As soon as the outgoing messages have been acknowledged by the receipients, REMGARD interrupts the message transfer chain and protocols the processing in the message overview.
  • Your entire enterprise will benefit from the information of the REMGARD data base via network access.
  • The data collected in REMGARD forms the basis for a multitude of products in the service area: 24 h on-call service, facility-management, process and energy optimization, outsourcing of services etc.
  • REMGARD has an open data structure for universal use and, on the hardware side, is based upon the most widespread PLC standard in Europe: SIMATIC® S7.
  • This allows REMGARD applications to be employed in a multitude of industry segments with the most diverse tasks.
